Our Story

A community eatery at The Railway Inn

We are Light & Salt Provisions CIC, opening at The Railway Inn in Lindal-in-Furness in summer 2026.

Our meat comes from a butcher we trust, who buys from farms right across the county, and we can trace every animal back to the farm it came from. Then we cook it the way it deserves.

Being a CIC means we run with a community heart. This is just the start, and we'd love you along for it.

Every plate helps us do a bit of good.
  • Local Butcher Our meat comes through a butcher we trust.
  • Traceable Meat We know the farm every animal comes from.
  • Community at Heart We are a CIC, so every plate gives something back.
  • A Place for Everyone Same table, same welcome.

The Mission

Good food that does good.

We are a Community Interest Company, not a charity. That makes us a proper business with a purpose: every plate we sell helps pay for the next good thing.

We want The Railway Inn to be more than somewhere to eat. It's a place for the whole of Furness to use. We'll host events and fundraisers for local causes, open our doors to groups who need a room and a warm welcome, and give what we can to the people doing good work around us.

Once a month, Sunday lunch is pay-what-you-can, with the same roast, the same table and the same welcome whatever you give.

A seat at the table for everyone. That's the bit that matters to us.
