Thank you, Lindal

Friends round a long table on opening night, with the bar busy behind them

The weekend

What a weekend.

We opened the doors at 3pm on Halloween and the Railway stayed full until gone half ten. You drank the St Sunday dry on the first night, and on Sunday we got to meet even more of you, along with plenty of your dogs. We'd been working towards that weekend for a long time, and you made it better than we could have hoped.

A packed bar on opening night at The Railway Inn, Lindal-in-Furness

We've loved hearing what you think of the drinks, so keep telling us. So far the local spirits have gone down a treat, and our tequila aged in Scottish whisky barrels was a big hit with one table of tequila connoisseurs.

Thank you

To everyone who helped us get here

Getting the Railway open took a lot of hands, and plenty of them weren't ours. Thank you to the village for such a warm welcome, and for your patience while the work went on. Thank you to everyone who gave us their time, their advice or a favour along the way, and to everyone who spread the word. Thank you to the local makers and suppliers who got their beer, spirits and soft drinks to us in time for opening, and to every one of you who came through the door last weekend. We couldn't have done it without you, and we won't forget it.

The kitchen

Bring your tea

Our kitchen is out of action for a little while due to some technical difficulties, but the bar is open as usual and you're very welcome to bring your tea with you. Order from your favourite local takeaway and have it delivered to the pub at 6 London Road, Lindal, LA12 0LL, or pick something up on your way in, then get a drink at the bar and ask us for plates and cutlery. The Ulverston Eats app delivers to Lindal, and we're gathering menus from local takeaways so there'll be a stack at the bar to choose from.

Sunday roasts are still coming, just a little later than planned, and Christmas dinners are on hold for now. If you've already booked a table or a Christmas dinner with us, we'll be in touch with you directly, and we'll let you know here as soon as the kitchen is back up and running.

What's on

Bonfire Night, and the rest of November

We're open from 12 on Thursday 5 November, so wrap up warm for the fireworks and then come and thaw out by the fire with a drink. We've got more planned for the rest of the month, and you'll hear about it here first.
